Sorry about your engine. And while I can't offere any insight to swapping a GS engine, I'm just going to say what everyone else is thinking: we want to see some pictures. by r083rt

if rebuilt cost is high, you can always find an r1200gs motor till 09, maybe later on but you will have to check the electronics. it had been done before so no tough job. hope everything goes smooth.. by xrnik

Sorry to hear this as well. I've heard of others using GS engines.

I have no personal knowledge, but I've heard good things about Anton Largiader's work especially on transmissions and final drives. Don't know if he rebuilds engines. He is near Charlottesville VA so not close to the front range.

Thanks! Was thinking getting a used R1200GS motor while scraping together funds to rebuild the original might be the way to go, but wanted to confirm that it'd work without ugly surprises. Good to know for sure. by dcleon
